As noted, there will be two series for the watch. A special app will be installed on the phone to allow for a more functional experience. The reason for the Android Wear app not being used is because of the A Series, and the fact the watch can also function as. the key to unlock their computer.
A Series
The A Series will be an eInk display. When in standby mode, it will show the time (without seconds), and have a battery percentage. The watch will refresh at 1htz which will be more than sufficient for a basic eInk screen. Keep in mind, that the seconds is not being displayed, so the only real change will be the change of minutes, or when a notification comes in. The watch will connect via Bluetooth, and will require the KCI integration ecosystem. The advantage of this watch is that it will likely last days, or even close to a week since it is on eInk. When it does need to be charged, it will use a magnetic Qi Charging puck. The watch will display the time, and notifications. Notifications will include incoming calls, incoming RCS/SMS messages, and calendar events.
P Series
The P Series will be an LED screen, and will refresh at 60htz. It will have all of the health sensors you would expect in a smart watch. This will provide you with health insights. There will also be a constant communication with the watch to help you figure out where you are at, and will display the next turn when using directions. The display will display the date, time (including seconds), calendar events, battery percentage, weather, and temperature. This information will support most of the needs when the watch is idle. When doing things, the Home Screen will disappear for whatever the notification will be displayed. There will also be a cellular version for those that want to spend more money.
