Services

Services with Kaldus is important for many people, especially if they live in Kaldus. However, some of the features may also be available to people outside of Kaldus. If the customer wishes to use an available service, then they will need to create an account with KCI. This will mean the customer will need a Kaldan GIN, and NIN to provide services. For a foreigner to acquire a GIN, they will need to provide proof of identity, and proof of citizenship. This is because the NIN is partially tied to what country the customer is a citizen of.

Kal-Drive

Kal-Drive is an online storage drive similar to DropBox, but more secured. One can choose to store their personal files in Kal-Drive, or use it for other resources. Every Kal-OS user will get 10GB of free storage and each Terabyte is $5/month. This means if you want a 1TB Kal-Drive account, you would spend $5/month. This is designed to compete with other providers, and intended to make integration with Kal-OS as simple as possible. Since Kal-OS can use drive letters as symbiotic links, the user can assign a drive letter to their Kal-Drive. Kal-Drive is available to those outside of Kaldus.

Kal-Library

The service is free to anyone residing in Kaldus. This allows the resident to borrow .klib format books for free for 2 weeks. Once the 2 week period ends, they will lose access to the eBook. However, all library eBooks will have a Buy option to where they can buy the eBook. Once they do that, they will be able to use an eBook Tablet to edit and markup the book as they see fit. They will also be able to have multiple bookmarks on the book no matter what device they will use.

The user will log into this service, and look for an eBook to borrow. Once they find something they want to read, they will borrow. They will use the K-Library app on the PC, or use a supported eBook device to read the book. As mentioned, they can buy the eBook for unlimited use. Kal-Library is available to those outside of Kaldus.

Kal-Messages

Kal-Messages is a messaging service that is available to anyone with a KCI device. This could include computers, and Handheld devices. Unfortunately due to the minimal nature of the eBook devices, these will not qualify. When using Kal-Messages, the user will set up with their NIN, and communicate with anyone else with an NIN. If the purchaser does not have an NIN, then they will either not use the application, or they will wish to acquire a free NIN from the Kaldan government. Kal-Messages is available to those outside of Kaldus.

Kal-Stamps

Kal-Post is the national postage delivery service. Kal-Post is the standard delivery service for within Kaldus Government institutes, and government owned business. The rates are designed to compete with private delivery services such as UPS. Kal-Stamps will allow the Post to make a reasonable profit. The user will use the K-Stamps App to actually print postage directly on the envelope. This service will be $10/month, and the advantage of this for Kal-Post is the reduction of needing to produce stamps, while charging the same price for postage. This means the postal system will save a couple of cents per stamp, and while one or two cents don’t mean much, the potential of savings can be significant when the entire nation is the potential customer. Kal-Stamps is not available to those outside of Kaldus, but the owner can continue to use the K-Stamps application to print envelopes.

Media Store

The Media Store is a one stop shop for all of the media that would be available to buy from within Kaldus. This will include audio music, movies, music videos, and TV shows. In the case of audio music, the user can listen to the song to make sure it is something they would be interested in owning. The Media Store is available to those outside of Kaldus, however – all transactions are in Kaldan Dollars.
