Internet

Internet applications are very important these days since many of us uses the Internet on a very regular basis. The Internet folder will provide for everything related to internet, and networking. The idea is to provide all of the tools the person will need to be productive. One application that you might expect in this category will be an FTP client. K-Drive will support integrated FTP services, and will associate a FTP location as a drive on the computer (if the owner chooses). Internet Packages are as follows:

  • K-Blog
  • K-IM
  • K-Mail
  • K-SIP
  • K-Web

K-Blog

K-Blog is a WordPress Managing software. WordPress is one of the most popular Blogging platforms, and by creating a dedicated program for this role will reduce the need to have to log into WordPress, and use their form to create new pages, or posts. One good thing will be multiple site support. All one will need is the website URL, and authorization to create or edit pages/posts.

K-IM

K-IM is an IM and IRC client. With supporting IM platforms, everything can be setup with a single client rather than having multiple clients to do basically the same thing.

K-Mail

K-Mail is an IMAP-4 email client. It will allow anyone with a compliant email account to read their email, and reply. The Mail client will use the Contact Manager for populating the people that it would write to. However, it will not remember every address one types. Instead, any non-contact address will have to be typed in manually. However, this keeps K-Mail clean and efficient.

A unique quality about K-Mail is that it will support alias addressing. You can set a unified SMTP server and credentials, and create Alias address. This means if the owner’s address is frank@frank.ka, and he wanted to set up a forwarding address as netflix@frank.ka, then he can add “alias” which will show as a drop down menu, but will use frank@frank.ka’s credentials when sending the email. Most email clients will require that you setup a complete email address and aliases are rarely supported.

K-SIP

K-SIP is a SIP client. Basically, one could have a telephone number on their computer. Any SIP compliant service provider will integrate with K-SIP, and this could be great for call centers since they will not need a dedicated telephone to answer or make calls.

K-Web

K-Web will be an XHTML browser that will support all of the current standards that you would expect to find in a modern web browser. It will manage passwords through the passwords app, and require biomtric for authentication. K-Web is also designed to be private, and can use the TOR network to anonymously browse the web, although there will be a bandwidth performance hit.
